What To Do With Fresh Flowers
So you’ve just received lovely fresh flowers for your birthday / Valentine’s Day / your boyfriend is amazing and gets you flowers for no reason (lucky girl!). Obviously, you know you need to put them in a vase, but do you know the best way to do so? Here are some simple steps to follow, as well as a few tips I’ve collected throughout the years!
Fresh Flowers: From Plastic Wrap to Vase
Step 1 – Find a clear surface
Step 2 – Cut off the plastic wrap and take off the aluminum foil
Step 3 – Cut off the end of the stems
Step 4 – Make your own flower food
If your florist didn’t give you a little sachet of flower food, you can make your own! Simply mix:
– 2 tablespoons lemon juice
– 1 tablespoon sugar
– 1/2 teaspoon bleach
Step 5 – Pour water and the flower food into the vase of your choice
Step 6 – Add the flowers and you’re done!
Make sure you check your flowers every day, and remove any leaves or petals that have fallen into the water. Cut a tiny bit off the stem every two days, and if they’re looking out of shape, add some more flower food!
Enjoy your fresh flowers! :)
